We had a fun trip to Keystone, CO this year. We stayed at the same place we stayed out when the girls were younger. It was in walking distance from the slope. In fact, we could watch the skiers coming down the slopes from our living room.
The first day of skiing the girls and I took lessons and Jay stayed back at the room. I would run into the kids occasionally as they skied by or if I saw them from the ski lift. It was freezing out, but they seemed to be having fun. Alexa ended up being promoted to a different class then Maren, so they didn't get to see each other much either. At the end of the day coming back down the gondola, poor Maren got puked on by another little girl. Maren always has all the luck!
We skied together as a family for the next two days. The first day we skied together the girls and I played it safe and stayed on the greens and Jay took off for some blues and blacks. The girls and I planned to call it quits a little early, but once we got to the bottom we decided to go for another run. Jay even ended up beating us home that day. The second day was fun, because Maren became more of a daredevil and started to pick up a little speed. (Alexa had major patience waiting for Maren to catch up with us. She never once complained.) Both girls started following their dad into the sides of the runs into the trees and doing small jumps and tricks. They were pretty proud of that. Maren did have one "epic wipe out" as she would put it. By the end of the day we were all able to ski the blues.
Jay had gotten me a spa day for Valentine's Day, so I got to do that the day before we left. Jay and the kids just hung out and walked up to the shopping area to grab lunch. Alexa lost her molar while I was gone too.
