*BECK'S BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT*

Beck's birth announcement was very special.  The baby scale he is laying on was used to weigh all of Grandma Hauk's brothers, sisters and cousins.  We were fortunate to be still have it in our family to use.

*CHRISTMAS*

Beck's 1st Christmas!  We had to quickly get him up to speed on our traditions.  The girls always have a slumber party the night before in Maren's room where they have to wait until everyone is up to head downstairs.  All the kids sit at the top of the stairs and Dad and I will go around to make sure everything is ready for them.  Every year before Christmas Eve, the kids decide which wrapping paper they want and Santa will wrap just their presents in that kind. This helps them know what presents are theirs on Christmas morning.  Then they have to start out Christmas morning with their stockings.  Grandma Hauk has made everyone in our family one.

*CHRISTMAS EVE*

Jay made the best prime rib for Christmas Eve dinner and we had a quite night at home due to me still being sore and the baby being so new.  After visiting Santa, we went home and relaxed watching movies.  The kids always leave cookies (this year Grandma Hauk's peanut butter fudge) and milk for Santa and then the girls both sleep in Maren's room.  In a few years, the boys will be able to join them.

*SANTA VISIT*

We were brave enough to get our annual photo with Santa on Christmas Eve.  Luckily the weather wasn't horrible and Beck was perfect while we waited in line.  Afterwards, we went to Jack Stack and the kids devoured a Jack Stack brownie.

*BABY BECK'S ARRIVAL*

Beck Harrison Adams came on December 17th at 12:43 pm weighing 8lbs, 15.9 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

He shares a very special date with me.  It was the day that I left for basic training.  Dec 17th was his due date, so when they asked when I would like to schedule my C-section it had to be on that date.

The C-section wasn't until 12:00 that afternoon and I had to be there by 11:00 am to check-in.  I was able to get the girls off to school and Coen to Grandma's before heading to the hospital.  With the girls, I had to go super early, so I was happy it was later in the day.

It was odd to have a scheduled C-section and be awake for surgery.  Everything went really well and the doctor held Beck up for Jay to see before the nurses took him to do their assessment.  They were able to bring him over to me to see as they weighed him and then Jay handed him to me as they stitched me up.

As usual of all our children, Beck did have jaundice.  This time they kept us an extra night to make sure he stayed on the lights to get treatment.  They had to check me out, but they allowed me to stay the night in my room.  Since he was on the lights, I couldn't really hold him or do anything during that time.

Eventually we were able to check out and head home.  I was so eager to get home to see the other kids.  I think Maren was ready for us to be home as well.  She would have spent the night with me, but they only allow 14 and older to stay the night without an adult.  I would have loved the extra help.
