We planned on me going into the hospital on Sunday, October 27th for me to spend the night and be induced the next morning. Coen had other plans. On Wednesday night, October 23rd I woke up and thought my water had broke. There wasn't a ton of water, so I went back to bed. The next morning I woke up and called my doctor's office and explained what had happened. They told me to come in to check for amniotic fluid at noon. I wasn't convinced that it had broke, so I was going to go in and figured they would send me home. Good thing that Jay convinced me that he was going to go with me, because when they ran the test it showed that my water did break and they sent me over to the hospital.
We started out in this room, where they started my Pitocin to start my labor.
My labor finally started around 3:00PM, but it wasn't until 6:00PM that I was fully dilated and I could push. Unfortunately, I kept trying and trying to have him, but he would not come. He was turned and wouldn't drop. The doctor would have me push for an hour or so and then break for an hour, but still no luck. Finally at 11:30PM we decided it was time for a C-section. My initial reaction was that I was scared, but I instantly was ready to give up and go to get the C-section. They had Jay leave the room and they prepped me to go into the C-section room. Finally they had Jay come in just in the nick of time to see Coen being brought to the table.
Since he was born through a C-section, he didn't have the fluids properly flushed out of his lungs. This caused him to need his lungs cleared out, which worried Jay. I was in and out of it and didn't really know what was happening at the time. Plus, I was pretty sure I was having a heart attack, but the anesthesiologist said that it was a normal reaction.
Everything went well and we welcomed our little boy, Coen Jay Adams, into the world on Friday, October 25th at 12:12AM. He was 9lbs 14ozs and 21 inches long.
The girls loved meeting their new brother.
Coen had so many visitors during our stay at the hospital.
Luckily, they caught that Coen had jaundice prior to going home, so he was able to lay under the lights. I hated taking away his sight, but we had to protect his eyes from the light. Both girls had it, so I was able to tell the doctor to check it.
